Harlen Bernell West, precious 4-year-old son of Harry and Rebecca, went to be with Jesus in July 2021, following a tragic car accident. On that day, as Rebecca fought to save her son's life on the side of the interstate, a couple stopped to help her. A good deed, despite the difficulty of the situation, which has continued to help Rebecca's heart as she grieves the loss of her son and fiancé. This couple's willingness to help Harlen later became the inspiration for Harlen's Superman Award. Harlen loved superman. It seems fitting that the award would be titled as such, acknowledging those who step up in the child loss community to help in good deed, kindness, or going above and beyond to help comfort grieving hearts of those who have lost a child. Special thank you to Harlen's "supermen," David and Madison Staley, the initial recipients of the award in September 2022. If you know someone who has performed a similar good deed or act of kindness in the child loss community, you may submit the information on the form below. Each year, NOAH will award one individual for the Harlen Superman Award in memory of Harlen Bernell West.
